Blue skies promise hope.  They lift our spirits and whisper the promise of better days ahead.

Patches of winter may linger but spring is just around the corner.

These little sweeties know it...

so does the crocus...

and snowdrop!

Take heart friends - spring is certainly on its way.

Keep "looking up" hope will not disappoint!

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."   Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)

p.s.  Thank you all your thoughts and prayers while my mother was in the hospital.   She is home and getting stronger each day.  You are all such a blessing to me.   May the God of  all hope fill each of your hearts with joy this coming week.

Work in Progress

Are we not all a work in progress?  I know I am.

In fact with each passing year there seems to be more progress needed to just remain the same...stronger glasses to read the fine print...extended exercise time to keep one's shape...a healthier diet for various changes that come with age.

This past Friday my dear Mom had to undergo  a rather routine procedure...angioplasty and stents.  She went in one day and returned home the next.  (BTW- she is doing well).

Modern medicine has certainly made great strides in amazing ways.  What would have been a long recovery from open heart surgery in years past is now an overnight stay.  Who knows in time what "new" miraculous techniques will be found to cure or simplify other health issues.

Often as we get older we struggle against change and progress.   We think the past ways were better and perhaps in some areas that may be true.   Today though I am grateful for those who continue to press on to improve life and keep us all being "works in progress".

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.   I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."   Psalm 139: 13-14 (NIV).

May each of you have a lovely week.

February's Arrival

With February's arrival fresh snow came.  It is a gentle reminder winter is still here.

The old apple tree bends its limbs to receive a light covering of white.

The hills in the distance have taken on winter's chill.

To chase away the season's grays I have pulled out Nita Leland's wonderful book "Confident Color".   Each page has lovely art work and different exercises to build one's confidence and knowledge about color.

It has inspired me to pull out my brushes and paint.
Isn't it true that finding inspiration can be illusive?
At times like these am so grateful for encouraging authors such as Nita Leland.

Her words are the perfect antidote to make those seasonal blues go away.

Speaking of  words I am sharing a favorite song of mine performed by Michael W Smith.  Hope you enjoy it sweet friends.

Have a lovely week - God Bless until we meet again!   Hugs

The Perfect Recipe

Here is the perfect recipe for a delightful winter's walk.

Blue sky and lots of sunshine...

a couple of sweet companions...

a familiar path...

and a brief visit with a neighbor.

Yes friends this made the perfect recipe for a lovely walk.

Speaking of recipes - here is a delicious treat and oh so easy.

                         Forgotten Cookies
3 egg whites beaten into firm peaks...a pinch of  salt...1 tsp. of vanilla flavoring...1/2 cup of granulated sugar...1 cup of chopped nuts...1 cup of choc. chips or butterscotch.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees - beat egg whites until firm...gently fold in the rest of ingredients.

Line cookie sheets with parchment paper, brown paper or aluminum foil.   Spoon cookies in mounds onto paper leaving about 2 inches in between each one.   Turn oven off and place cookie sheets inside.   Close door and do not open for 12 hours or overnight.   Next morning flip cookies out onto another cookie sheet and peel paper off .   Cookies will harden - store in a closed container.

These are naturally gluten free - hubby really likes them.

Well hope you enjoyed the perfect recipe.  Maybe you will share one of yours.

Have a wonderful week.

Winter's solitude

Winter has its own special brand of solitude.  The blanket of snow brings a quiet to the season.

It allows one to be still...

To reflect on what matters...

To study God's handiwork in nature...

and of course time to "look up".

Even with all of its challenges there are many wonderful blessings that come with winter's sojourn.

Hope all of you are enjoying this quiet time of the year.

" quietness and trust is your strength."  Isaiah 30:15 b (NIV)

Have a blessed week.
